Married Life is Good

So, this is Mitzi and Josh from "The Muddy Cup" coffee shop in New Paltz, NY. Our sister Danielle was so kind to set up this "blog site" for us so we can keep all our loved ones posted on our whereabouts and adventures, even when we may be out of reach. We usually venture into town once or twice a week to check emails and make phone calls, so we'll try our best to keep this updated for ya'll!! : )
So, after the wedding we went to the Delaware water gap to "Santosha on the Ridge" yoga retreat-bed and breakfast for two nights... living in the lap of luxury. It was so wonderful and rejuventating after the craziness of the wedding, a well needed time of meditation, good food, and good lovin' ;) !!!

Josh lounging at the B&B

Then we took off for Naples, Florida to stay in my cousin's condo for a week. We tried to go out kayaking in the estuary, but Josh got attacked by a Manatee. We decided we'd better stay on the beach and soak up some rays insted, get rested for our up coming adventures. We had a great time. Again, really good food and lots of it too!!

Then, the road trip began...

So, now we are wrapping up our second week here climbing in the gunks. It's beautiful up here in the Shawangunk Mountains this time of year. Over the last few weeks we've witnessed the leaves getting more and more colorful each day. We're they'll hit their peak color withing the next week and a half while we're here. We're living in a feild at a distillery where they make whiskey and burbon, a few miles from the cliff. We've made friends with a Canadian couple staying there too, Trevor and Sarah. They are really great people.
We've been falling in love with all our new gear... a huge heartfelt thanks to all of you who contributed!!! Josh and I spent last week getting our confidence up in placing our own protection on the wall... climbing easy routes, really focusing on all of our placement safety and anchor building techniques. This week we've pushed ourselves to do some harder routes. I led my first 5.7 on trad, and Josh here (my sexy husband) led his first 5.10b AND 5.11a!!! So, week two and hubby has already met his goal for the summer... this gives us many oppurtunities to explore more places and climb more climbs across the country. We are so excited as to what adventures lie ahead, so we'll keep you posted.

Me leading a climb...

Josh leading a climb...

And at the summit...

Loving married life,
Mitzi and Josh

Hey Mit and Josh! So happy you decided to keep the blog! Hope it was easy to use! Daddy and I just read it and it looks like you guys are having an awesome time! I missed your phone call on Tueday by 10 minutes, I called back, but no luck! I tried calling both phones yesterday, but they were dead! Dad wants to know if you saw the full moon last night? We really miss you both alot at home, but this will be a great way to "see" and hear from you! Stay safe, and hope to hear from you soon! Love you guys!

Hi Mitter and Josh,
This is such a good idea! Your Sissy is so smart!
The "gunks" look incredible. You have talked about them so many times, but to see the pictures - it's just beutiful! It must be amazing to be there. The full moon has been awesome the past few nights, too. Nothing like a harvest moon. I bet it will be breath taking with the fall colors in the next couple of weeks. Congrats to Josh for reaching his climbing goal. Use all that safety equipment to it's full advantage.
We are off to the annual "Paws for Life" fundraiser tomorrow for Gilda's Club with the doggies. Our team is the "Walking Woo-chas". Wish us luck in raising lots of loot for a good cause. We miss you both! Have fun and stay safe. We are so happy for you.
Keep on Blogging for us!
AND keep the bear repellant close!
Love, Mom

You both look so cute and happy, you are really enjoying your trip and each other- believe me it shows all over your faces. Be safe and careful- till we blog again- Love always-me. ps. If you can handle mountain climbing and make it look so easy, you can handle anything that life throws at you in the future lol.

Hey guys: We just got back from Cape May weekend away (courtesy of Aunty Judy - a GREAT time I might add) and finally got to give the blog a look. Great to see you up close and personal. Took Dad's breath away with the climbing pics. You KNOW now he loves heights! Praying that you are being safe with the hanging from cliffs and stuff and that you are growing together in so many ways!! Looking forward to a visit in a week or so, hopefully. See ya soon!! Luv, Mom and Dad H.

Ways to spot your addicted to mountaineering
You insist to others that you really buy climbing magazines for the articles
When self arrest doesn't mean you turn yourself in to the police station
Your gear rack is worth more than your house
Your bivvy bag remains set up in your bedroom
The majority of your "friends" are hanging on your rack
You no longer have anything in common with most other people
All your relatives keep referring to you as the crazy one in the family
You keep finding carabiners all around your house and in your car
Your spare bedroom looks like the local Patagonia shop
The first thing you find in your house to toast marshmallows with is an ice screw
If the contents of your pack cost more than your wedding,
and your honeymoon includes "candlelight" dinners, during a bivouac at sixteen thousand feet
When your pets are named after famous mountains
You refuse to date or marry anyone who doesn't know how to belay
You decorate your house with training holds all over the ceiling and walls
When clicking down this page, you feel your finger tendons hurt from yesterdays unreasonable boulder session
When your friends won't go hiking with you anymore because you spend to much time grading the surrounding peaks
Your tent is worth more than your car
You shout climbing terms during sex

Hi Guys!! What an absolutely wonderful idea. Obviously Dani is not only beautiful but she's also very smart! Hey Josh, I love the new you, almost didn't recognize you for second. I'm so happy we're able to keep track of what you guys are doing and that you're able to share all your wonderful adventures with us. Please keep each other safe while you're climbing these beautiful mountains. Uncle Kev, Eri and Devon send their love. P.S. We all had an "absolutely" wonderful time at your wedding. I can't remember the last time I was moved with so much emotion (other than when my kids were born). Thanks for sharing your wonderful day with us. Love you, stay safe and I'll be checking in soon to see how you both are.
